"Welcome to Stanway Rovers Youth Football Club”

We are an ambitious, vibrant club and strive constantly to provide the best football experience possible for our children, young people, coaches, and spectators. In 2008, in recognition of the high standards we set for coaching, administration and child protection, we received the Football Association’s Charter Standard award.

The Senior Stanway Rovers Football Club was reformed in 1956 and currently plays in the Ridgeons Premier League. Our club was formed in 2005 and currently has teams in age groups from under 6s through to under 16s. Our home ground is at Spring Lane, Stanway.

Mini Soccer (under 6s to under 10s)

The Football Association has declared that Mini-Soccer is the most appropriate and fun way for children to be introduced to football. It allows greater involvement in the game, with more touches, dribbles and passes. Depending on the age group, the number of players and size of pitch can vary from four-a-side for the youngest, to seven-a-side for the under 10s. The goal size for all age groups is 12ft by 6ft (3.6m by 1.8m). Our under 6s to 8s play in non-competitive friendly matches, so they experience no pressures about league position or results. The emphasis is definitely on the children being allowed to play freely in properly organized games and to just enjoy their football. Our under 9s and under 10s play in the Colchester & District Youth Football League.

11-a-side Football (under 11s to under 16s)

All of our 11-a-side teams play in the Colchester & District Youth Football League and regularly enjoy success in the league and cup competitions. Our under 13s to under 16s have teams in the highly-competitive Eastern Junior Alliance League. This league attracts clubs from the surrounding Counties and North London and allows our boys to take part in some of the highest quality football the region has to offer.
