Match Report

This week sees the boys play the second round of the Essex County Cup against Hambros from the Southend League. A bright sunny day with a softer pitch made for perfect playing conditions.

The game kicks off and boys seemed fired up from the very first minute.

A ball was bouncing around freely and Bradley steals in to set off on a run towards the Hambros goal, his pace is electric to take him clear of the defence and he smashes it past the on rushing keeper for 1-0.

Just as the supporters were digesting the first goal, along comes the second.

Lovely one touch football between Slacky and Henry, the boy is threaded through to Sam H, he sets off down the bye line and pulls a beautiful pass back into the path of Tuckers who crashes an unstoppable shot into the top corner 2-0.

It was obvious that the boys were far superior to there opponents and more goals were immanent.

A great win in midfield by Henry and his pinpoint pass finds Tuckers, one touch out of his feet and a peach of a pass sends Bradley away on goal, bang, 3-0.

Finishing of the highest quality.the pressure was relentless and the boys were camped in Hambros half. Four corners in a row resulted in our fourth goal.

Matthews inswinging corner sees bradley volley home from close range for his hat trick.

The fifth goal was classy, Henry and Tuckers played around the defenders with neat one touch football, the cross is drilled to the back post where Hodders is waiting to gobble up his first of the game.

The boys were rampant now and Henry robs the full back and beats the centre half, his delicate chip cross finds Hodders free at the back post to tap home for 6-0.

The whole team were flowing and all were turning in good performances. The seventh goal was just around the corner.

Another great ball by Henry finds Bradley through on goal, his cross shot is saved well by the Hambros keeper but the ball drops to the feet of Sam Hodders who greatfully turns the ball home for 7-0 and seals his well taken hat-trick.

The game is so one sided now. A corner by Matt is flicked home by Henry for 8-0.

A great knock by Tuckers to send the pacey Bradley clear of the defence, he draws the keeper before sliding the ball into the bottom corner for 9-0 and halftime is on us.

The second half sees many changes throughout the half which gives everybody a chance in different positions and you could see the balance of the side was disrupted. Never the less, the boys continued to dominate an outclassed Hambros side still reeling from the first half mauling.

A miss kick by there keeper falls at the feet of Jason who dont need asking twice to opening the scoring in the second half 10-0.

Henry wins a tackle in the middle of midfield and his pass finds Matthew who lobs the keeper for 11-0.

Henry seems to be involved in everything going forward and his brilliant control and defence splitting pass sends Jason through on goal who smashes his shot past the helpless keeper for 12-0.

Many chances go wanting in the second half. Cem smashes a rocket against the bar, Matthew, Harry, Tyler and Jack Knight all go close with efforts before Hambros grab a consolation goal which to be fair they deserve for battling away all afternoon against a classy Rovers performance.

All that was left now was for Matthew to beat four players on a mazzy run and cross to the back door for Jason to gobble up a second half hat-trick for a final score reading 13-1.

We know the opponents were of poorer quality but you can only beat what is put in front of you and the boys did that with some style and very good football. Man of the match went to Jack Knight
